Our demo plot for planting concepts and browsing protection in the FFH site "Buchheller-Quellgebiet" was visited during a small guided tour with staff from the Regional Forestry Office and the Lower Nature Conservation Authority. After about two years, the first clear differences in the effectiveness of the different browsing protection types used, have become apparent. While some models have held up very well and reliably protect the young trees from browsing and rubbing damage, other variants are already severely damaged, unstable, and partially collapsing. These not only fail to provide adequate protection but also increasingly hinder the further growth of the young trees due to bending and rubbing.
