The extensive meadow fallows and extensively grazed pastures near Lippe are highly important for the protection of rare meadow birds as well as insects in the Stegskopf area. Among other species, the rare violet cooper can be found here—one of the target species promoted through the LIFE project LIFE4 Siegerlandscapes.

During this excursion, we will learn about the butterfly, its habitats, and the entire butterfly community of extensively managed grasslands. In addition, we will introduce conservation measures for these butterfly species, including the long-term land management carried out by the Biologische Station and initial measures implemented during the LIFE project.
